In the Cope Collection of the Family Data in the PA Historical Society in Philadelphia , there is a letter from H. M. Chase, dated 1896, Barnstable, MA., which states that Jane (Jean) Ewing Wiley, a widow, came to America in the early 1700s, bringing five or six children , mostly boys, and that she bought a farm in Chester County, PA. Of her sons, David, became the ancestor of the MA. line.
