Note
Sir Edwin Sandys, of Northbourne, Kent, was at the head of the Virginia Company as Deputy 1617-19, and as Treasurer 1619-20. His influence gave VA its first legislature (1619), and he was "a sincere, devoted friend" of the Leyden Puritans.
