Some researchers have maiden name as Lydia Elizabeth Cox with parents Frank Cox and Sarah Francis "Sallie" McCain. Others have her maiden name as Lydia Elizabeth McCain with parents James McCain and Sarah Cox, and one has parents as William Francis McCain and Rebecca Bishop. Her death certificate has her mother's maiden name as Sarah Cox and her father as ? Cox. The death certificates of several of her children give her maiden name as Lydia McCain.
