Byington, Richard N.

MADISON - Richard N. Byington, age 78, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Dec. 7, 1927, in St. Francis, Missouri, to Henry and Bessie (Lalumondier) Byington. Richard married Lorraine Kiesow on Aug. 30, 1958. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and retired from Oscar Mayer as a sanitation foreman after a faithful 39 years. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine of 48 years; three children, John Byington, Diane Riley both of Madison, and Alan (Lisa) Byington of Cottage Grove; three grandchildren, Jacob, Mykayla and Seth Byington; three sisters and two brothers, Jeanne Becker of Onalaska, Texas, Joyce (William) Koski of Phelps, Clark (Judy) Byington and Marilyn (the late Vernon) Congleton both of Rockford, Ill., and Keith (Frances) Byington of Fallon, Nev.; many nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Mary Alyce Rabaduex of Bonne Terre, Mo. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee Street, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, with the Rev. Mark F. Bartels and the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, and at the church from noon until the time of service on Tuesday. Richard N. Byington of Madison died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Meriter Hospital. He was 78.

Mr. Byington was born Dec. 7, 1927, in St. Francis, Mo., the son of Henry and Bessie (nee Lalumondier) Byington.

A veteran, he had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Lorraine Kiesow Aug. 30, 1958.

He was employed by Oscar Mayer for 39 years, retiring as a sanitation foreman.

Mr. Byington was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years; one daughter, Diane Riley of Madison; two sons, John Byington of Madison and Alan (Lisa) Byington of Cottage Grove; three sisters, Jeanne Becker of Onalaska, Texas, Joyce (William) Koski of Phelps and Marilyn (the late Vernon) Congleton of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers Clark (Judy) of Rockford and Keith (Frances) of Fallon, Nev.; one aunt, Mary Alyce Rabaduex of Bonne Terre, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Oct. 17 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison with the Rev. Mark Bartels and the Rev. Bernt Tweit officiating.

Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Park.
