Melvin Theodore Moore, age 82, of Howell, passed away at his home Wednesday, September 19, 2007. He was born May 4, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Albert L. and Agnes E. (Adams) Moore. Melvin joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, serving during WWII and was a Kamikaze survivor in Okinawa. He was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of American Legion. Beloved husband of Jeannie (Crider) Moore whom he married November 10, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa; dear father of Kathryn (Mark) Barker of Fayetteville, AR, Marilyn Payne of Houghton Lake, Daniel of Fowlerville, Gary (Debbie) of Fowlerville, Marcia (Kirk) Mayer of Rapid City, SD, 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five brothers and six sisters. He was preceded in death by siblings Wilber Moore and Eleanor Gooden. Visitation Sunday 1-4, 6-8 p.m. with funeral services Monday 11:00 a.m. at MacDonald's Funeral Home, Howell (517)546-2800.
