Note

Herbert was a Minister, receiving his first appointment in March 1913. He was two years at a church in Cedar Co., MO and travelled horseback 30 miles each way to serve it on Sunday. In 1916 he went to Iowa where he worked on a farm, but 1917 found him in Oswego, KS, then on to May, OK where he alternately worked on farms and preached, and where he met and married. In the years 1921 to 1933 he moved throughout KS, CO, AZ, AR, and then west to CA and OR. He eventually settled in Fresno, CA, where he slowed down some, but has not quit.
